We are a movement

Our world is trending towards a future where most people won’t “matter.” A world controlled by a wildly wealthy few, enabled by fleets of servo servants, where people like us live in fractured communities as over-subscribed serfs.

We cannot let them make that world without a fight.

Our problems are dire. Our lives are at stake. Instead of seeking solutions our discourse is often divisive, a problem that is exacerbated by algorithmic filter bubbles and solidified when we let the oligarchy’s mass media tear us apart.

They want us to feel lonely; they want us asleep and uninformed. They lay us low then shoot us in the street. And when they let us get angry, it’s to distract us from their disgusting propensities.

We can make a better world. Movements with fewer tools than ours have done it before.

It takes action. Sometimes slow & strategic, sometimes fast & furious. But always action, and always together.

Here are a few more ideas for building stronger movements: * Progress over perfection; teach others as you go * No individual wins if the movement loses * Critique is a scalpel; it can cure and it can harm. Wield it wisely * Debate, then compromise and organize * Power does not negotiate with feelings, but movements powered by emotional intelligence can rebuild the world * Seize opportunities, but always leave time for the long game * True revolution is a generational journey * Compassion and kindness are never weakness

Our pain and fury are the sparks that start the movement, but the durability of what we build is the fuel that sustains it. Not just software and servers: friendships, joy, love.

Keep hope, make time for a good laugh or a song, and remember that you are never alone when you are part of a movement.

You are part of a movement.
